Terrific tips for a quality blog post

Terrific tips for a quality blog post.
In Te Ngahere we have been learning about quality blog posts. There are 6 things we need to include in a blog post to make it quality. You need: A catchy title, introduction, DLO ( digital learning object), reflection, source ( links to the information sites you used) and a question. It was hard to understand what the words meant like source because I have never used that word before. Have you heard of these steps before?

Multiplying 2 digit number

In Te Ngahere we have been learning standard written form. I really like standard written form because it is easy to learn. Standard written form is an algorithm you can use to make your learning easier. At first it is confusing to put the numbers in the right spot but when you learn it, it becomes easy. You can use standard written form for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. This is really helpful when you have a test and need to answer a question as it is fast. We also made DLO’s about standard written form just in case we forget it in the future we can go back to the DLO and learn it again. I hope to add my DLO when I have finished it!

Story Beats

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about story beats. Story beats are the main parts in a story. We were learning this to help our structure for writing narratives. Story beats are set up like this. Once upon a time, everyday, until one day, because of this, because of that, because of that, until finally, ever since that and the moral of the story. You have to include a problem solution and most importantly characters. For example: Once upon a time… There was a fish named Marlin who loved to son Nemo more than anything. Every day… Marlin tried to protect Nemo from the ocean which he feared. Until one day… Nemo was taken away by a scuba diver. Because of this… Marlin had to leave the safety of his home reef in order to find his son. Because of that… Marlin ran into sharks, jellyfish and other dangers. Because of that… Marlin was forced to take a leap of faith. Until finally… Marlin learned to let go of his fear and trust that Nemo had what it takes to free dory from the fishing net. And ever since then… Marlin gave his son Nemo the space he needed to learn on his own. The moral of the story is… Parents need to let go in order for their kids to grow up.

Attributing And Reusing Images

In Te Ngahere we have been learning to attribute and reuse images. Attribute is giving the author of something credit. We had to find an image of something and go to the site the image came from, get the name, author of the photo and the licence. The licence is what allows you to use the image or music. It was hard finding the licence because I didn’t know what the licence was but now, after a while, I figured it out and it became easy. To find the licence you have to scroll down and find the word licence and get the link that is there. I learnt that all the images I use must be usable and if I have to attribute the site I can add an extra slide at the end of what I’m making ( animation or other things) and ad the licence of the picture. I found this confusing at the start but now that I know how to do this I’m going to use it in the future.

Cross Country

At Paihia School we had our school cross country. At cross country we had to run around a huge course. We had the race at Bledisloe. We waited on a tarpaulin on the side of the field next to a deck, the PTA was selling juices, sausage sizzle, nachos and baking. We were learning to pace ourselves and try our best. We waited until one of the teachers called ‘10 year old girls’ all the 10 year old girls gathered around the teacher and waited. Then we headed over to the start line and lined up facing forward then a teacher said on your marks get set go. We ran across the field, over a fence, up a hill and back down. I was really proud of myself after the race.
