Thank You Letter

We have been making thank you letters for the adults that came along to help us with our camp at Coopers Beach. Everybody had one person to write a card to, I wrote a card to Gina.    

Coopers Beach Christian Camp

W.H.L how to make a slideshow about Coopers Beach. We had to include all of the activities that we participated in. My favourite activity was obviously the water slide but I loved the kayaks. Have you been to coopers beach?  

Flower and Pet Shw

We had a fantastic Pet Show Day last Friday. Throughout the week we had planned creative articles to create such as sand saucers, vaseline saucers, aqua jars, wild flower and grasses decorations and hunting out some unusual containers to arrange flowers in. Beforehand some of us had produced some some needlework by making oven cloths. On Thursday we made gingerbread men and we decorated them with a variety of edible goodies. Some of us also made some amazing tasty truffles.
              

Gala Video

W.A.L.T. create a video using trailer on our i-pad. We had to ensure that we spelt all our words correctly the first time as it is tricky and time wasting to correct them. We had some of our photos deleted about our Gala day which was really disappointing but any way our creative learning was more about the process rather than the final product. The most important thing was that our class learnt so much about creating products to sell for profit at our Gala. We made $670 which was FANTASTIC for our camp to Cooper's Beach later in the month.



         

THE UNEXPECTED CONSTRUCTION !!!

✌The Unexpected Construction

It was early in the morning well for me. It was nine forty two in the morning and mum woke us up with a big “wake up” and I was not happy! “Uncle Pineapple is here”. “ Yay,” I croaked I got up got ready and ran outside, down the parking lots and I reached my destination: the garage.

“Hi Zara” Uncle Pineapple said in a heavy voice. “ Hello” I whispered trying to make him not hear. They took out one of the garage doors and replaced it with a filthy ranch slider from Dad’s work Total Engineering The ranch slider was as filthy as mud.

 

The next day dad bought some pink batts / insulation to put in the walls and roof. Uncle Pineapple came back over and helped dad put in some of the batts. Then I found out that Uncle Pineapple’s work is called Codlin Turner Construction! Codlin is my last name!

Finally they put in the walls over the pretty, poisonous, pink batts. We haven't painted the walls yet but we will later in the month or maybe november. The house which we are going to call: rumpus room, is tiny because it has two rooms dad built the bathroom. We are going to make it colour blocked with the colours: skin tone, spearmint ice, navy blue and grey.

At the end it looked really good and awesome I think I could live in there for five years but by myself. It was an absolutely awesome holiday!

W.A.L.T. create a book using Book Creator. Next time the task will take less time as I experimented on how to use the app this time. I'd love to write lots of books for the teina in our school.

Argument gala.

Should We Have Galas?

I Definitely Think We Should Have Galas! So we can fundraise ad give money to other groups of people.

Firstly, To have a good gala you need to donate. Donating might make you have more room in your house because getting rid of your old things to make more space might just make your day. You can also get new trinkets and goodies to share with your friends. Its really exciting having new and amazing things.

Secondly, at Galas you can also meet up with old friends and have a chat about some things you want to share. Or just play with your friends in the time that you have. You can also meet someone new like a neighbour that you never knew. And you might just have a new person to play with when you are bored!

Thirdly, you can get better with money by counting the money to fundraise for our camp at coopers beach. Also by learning how much the profit that the games, food and more is going to be. With money you can learn math for the future when we have jobs.

I personally agree to having an awesome gala! Because we can fundraise for trips overseas. That is why we should definitely have a gala.

Super Science Experiments

Lava Lamp

In our class we have bean doing experiments. Kaitlin and I made an awesome experiment called a lava- lamp we used: oil, water, food colouring and alka seltzer tablets. Steps: We put three thirds the way of oil in a jar the rest with water leaving an inch between the water and the top of the jar. Then we broke the alker seltzer tablets and but the pieces in. This caused the water to rise. Water doesn't mix with oil so when we added the food colouring it mixed with the water because the density's are different and heavier than others.

 W.A .L.T.  be thankful for who you are. We are learning that everybody is unique in their own ways, that we need to appreciate others In life. we need to make great relationships with others, individually and in classes.

The bully who was jealous. I.A.L.T. be thankful for who I am. I was petrified because it was a new experience which I never like other people see it. I found it really fun, the puppets were really fluffy. Next time I definitely make the puppet show 30 seconds long. I am going to make it more magnificent next time.

Amazing Alphabetical Alliteration Makes Real Relationships Rule

Today we used Screencastify with Tania and we used it on our critter alliteration I said the front page and letter L and I also helped Ana Maria do her letter. Screencastify is an app on the top of our Chromebooks and some other digital devices.  With Screencastify you can video the screen but you can also do it with other apps. you press a couple buttons but after that you are ready to video.  If I had to rate this app it would be eight out of ten. In the future I personally don't think it will be that use full.  

Cross Country Goals

W.A.L.T use green screen for our cross country. My goal is to pace myself throughout the race. I am going to achieve my goal by running with my dad every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.My reflection is to become faster and stronger throughout the time that we have.

             First we took a video of us running from one side of the field to the goal post. second we went to the class and grouped all of the paper that had our goals, how and reflections.

              Thirdly got called in and then we did our green screening. We had a big green sheet behind us. It was awesome. I am going to practice every day but i'm still going to run with my Dad. since I have a trampoline I can practice on there. 
             My favourite part about cross country is that after mum takes me to get ice-cream. I personally don't like cross country because I lost my shoe last time. So this time I'm not going to ware shoes.            

Amazing Alphabetical Alliteration makes Real Relationships Rule

W.A.L.T. write an alliteration describing a relationship between two creatures. We used a shared Google Doc to write our alliteration. In a shared Google Slide we had to add a background then inserted png images of the critters 
the hard bit was finding the png images because it will always be pictures with backgrounds.

Choco and M and M Icecream

This week for reading our group (Kaitlin, Nevaeh and Zara) read a story about Joy Cowley who lives in an isolated area Seventy kilometres away from ice cream. Ice cream is one of her favourite treats so she has to make her own. We followed her recipe but chose to change the kiwi fruit for Chocolate and banana M and M's. Next time we will not add as many chips and M and M's and we'll make a triple batch so the whole class can have a taste.

            

I.A.L.T. identify the time taken to complete tasks. We had to estimate three tasks in seconds, three in minutes and three tasks in hours. We used a stop watch and the AA Travel distance guide to help us. It was hard thinking about what you would write. 

Joy Cowley's Ice Cream Recipe

You will need:

1 cup of condensed milk

1 cup cream

1 cup of mashed banana

Chocolate chips

Beat the condensed milk, cream, and banana

Pour the mixture into container.

Put the container in the freezer.

When ice cream is half frozen. (about 2 hours),

Beat the mixture again.

Return to the freezer

And leave until 5 minutes( soft ice cream) leave until frozen (frozen ice cream)

Fractions

W.A.L.T. to make a fractions wall. First we had to cut twelve pieces of paper the same length.  First we glued one whole strip, then we folded another strip in 1/2 before cutting it in half and gluing it on our wall. We repeated this process in 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6, 1/7, 1/8, 1/9, 1/10, 1/12ths. We saw patterns when we cut 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/12. We saw another pattern when we cut 1/3, 1/6 and  1/9.  We saw another pattern with 1/5 and 1/10.
The hard bit was cutting them exactly the correct length so we didn't do 1/7 or 1/11.  

Haiku

I.A.L.T write a Haiku. Haiku have lines and they go 5,7,5

Cinquain

I.A.L.T write a cinquain. In Cinquains the lines go 2, 4, 6, 8, 2. it was difficult trying to make the lines have the right amount of syllables in them.

A J and I are doing Ireland because our ancestors come from Ireland. We learnt lots about St Patrick's Day from our inquiry.

Our Hoe

At the beginning of the year we wrote our hoe for Te Moana class as well as how we collaborate and care for others throughout the school as well as throughout life. We have just revisited it, and discussed the questions with greater meaning.
