STEAM
For the past few weeks our class Te Ngahere has been doing a STEAM challenge. We were learning to use the scientific method. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. For STEAM we have been making hoop planes. We had to make a normal hoop plane and a modified hoop plane in buddies. We first had to write the question, hypothesis and the method on how we are going to test the planes. When we were done we had to make the normal hoop plane. Then we had to do ten tests each (I do ten then my buddie does ten). Once we had tested that plane we wrote up our results on how far they flew. Then we made our modified plane, we tested that ten times as well. We wrote up our results for the modified plane. We had a lot of fun doing this STEAM challenge I hope we get to do another one this year.

Science Fair
On Friday last week we had our class science fair. We went to the whare and the people that had their board facing forward stood by our boards that some people in our class setup. The rest of the people including me walked to the different board and asked them question so they could get prepared for the questions the judges would ask them. The judges were our principal Mrs Lindsay and a marine biologist Danielle. When it was time for the science fair we all stood beside our boards with our partner. Lots of classes came in and looked at our boards and asked some questions then the judges came in and talked to every single one of us about our experiment. At the end of the day we had Friday assembly and they announced the winners. There could only be six groups that go over to Kerikeri. The awards were first second third and highly commended, the highly commended don't get to go. My buddy and I came first with two other groups. The science fair was really fun.

Cross Country Training
This term in Te Ngahere we have been practising for cross country. The first time I practised I was a little bit nervous. When our teacher said go, we ran. I sprinted at the start, I didn’t realise that I would get tired and start walking. The time I got for the first run was 6:35 . Two days later we did it again, I remembered not to sprint at first or else I will get tired. This time I ran the whole way and sprinted at the end, my time was 5:45 I was really excited and happy. The next day I got 5:22. On Friday I got 5:12. I’m really happy with what I got I hope I can beat my score again. The last time I did it I got 5.25 I was still happy with what I got.
