Waitangi

On Monday this week we had Whaea Kerry and Whaea Monika again but this time they came to us. We were learning to make objects that explain our identity. We had a project to do which was about our identity and who we are. The first thing I did was make a 3D version of myself on the tablet using Paint 3D. After we made ourselves we all made trees, bushes and birds using Tinkercad. We made eggs, insects and some people made Kiwi. Then it was lunch time when we were playing outside Whaea Kerry made a sea with a waka that had our people in it and a Ngahere (bush). We had a bush because our class name is Te Ngahere (the bush). She made it on VR (tilt brush). Whaea Kerry didn’t finish it on the day but it was amazing and it is so awesome how she can put things from other apps onto the VR. How awesome is technology am I right? I think we were good at making the objects. I enjoyed making the trees and watching the end result. I think I was good at the trees and my Kiwi. Next time I could make my trees better and make them more realistic.

Waitangi

On Thursday and Friday last week the year 6’s travelled on a bus down to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. When we got there we met the two people that are teaching us (Whaea Monika and Whaea Kerry). We walked in and got to know the teachers better. Then we split into two groups one of the groups went on a hikoi (walk) around the grounds and the other group had a tutu with the digital activities they had. The first thing I did was walk around the grounds we got a buddie and a smartphone per group and took photos of the things we saw. Then we got to play with the things they had: Coding robots, Sculpt GL, Paint 3D, Tinkercad, VR (Virtual reality), Stop motion and Green screen. My favorite activity was VR because we got to draw cool designs and it was like we were in another world. The last thing we did on Friday was plan about what our project is going to be, we decided on green screening about the Waka (Ngatokimatawhaorua). I can’t wait until we do it again.
