Science Day

A couple of weeks ago Paihia School had a science day. Four people came around and showed us some science experiments like fire, explosions, colour changing… After that we had a rotation that one person would run. The first one we went to was with Caitlyn seeing how much the water was polluted but it wasn’t working. The next one we went to was making camera lenses with Taiyo they worked and they were awesome. Then we went to Juans and we got to try on rainbow glasses they were weird I had never seen anything like it. We put a dvd into a box and it made a rainbow without using the sun and water. The last one was with Nina and we launched rockets with fire. My favorite thing was making the camera lense.👻

A&P SHOW

This term at Paihia School we had Pet Day. Pet Day is when kids bring their pets to school. There were dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and crayfish. My favourite was the dogs. We also made vaseline saucers, iced cookies, and unusual containers to get judged as well as posters to go to the A&P show. 😜😺

Swim Safety

A couple of weeks ago in Te Maunga we went to a water safety lesson in our whare. We learnt five main rules: Never swim alone, always tell someone you are going swimming, bring a boogie board, check the weather and tell someone what time you will be back from swimming. Never ever take a teenager and no parent because they might just stare at a screen instead of watching you and if you drown they might not notice. If you are in a boat always call the coastguard on channel 16. 🏊

#Procedureral Text

This couple of weeks we have been Making Procedural Texts. The Procedures were about Beeswax Wraps, Games, Bird Ball, Pikelets… We had fun writing about these topics. Procedural Texts are pieces of writing that explain how to make it or how to play it… My favourite one was the Pikelets because we got to pour the batter onto a electric frying pan and flip it. I also liked the Beeswax Wraps because it only took about thirty seconds and we got to take them home. But they Smelt like honey and they had a really strong smell.

# T3 W7 Making Flubber

In Te Maunga we made Flubber, we used PVA glue, Borax, Liquid dye & Water. We doubled the recipe so we used 1 cup & a ½ of PVA glue one cup of water & four teaspoons of borax. Most of us had a turn mixing or adding something. We used School glue so it didn’t work. If we make it again we should use PVA white glue. A group of us tried to make another batch but it still didn’t work.
